.On Saturday October 8, 2011 the 8th annual Giant Pumpkin Regatta was held at the Memorial Union on Lake Mendota in Madisonb, Wisconsin. The event was a partnership between the Hoofer Sailing Club and the UW-Madison Horticulture Department to race these giant squash. These giant pumpkins were developed by Professor Jim Nienhuis.
